At only one hour and a half from Panama City, over the Caribbean, you arrive at Snorkeling Center in the Portobelo area. Name given by Christopher Columbus to the bay on his fourth and last voyage in 1502. You try on the fins and the rest of the equipment and when you have everything, you board a “panga” (a small fiberglass motorboat), that will take you to the coral reef. You snorkel for about one hour and a half and then get back on the boat to return to the Snorkeling Center. You order lunch and while it is being cooked, you can shower and change into dry clothes. After lunch, you then go visit the town of Portobelo and its fortifications as well as the “Black Christ” church before heading back to Panama City. Many locals as well as foreigner devotees flock the streets on the Saint Patron celebration day on October 21st.
